Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the highest rated game on Metacritic this year
The developers at Larian Studios have been racking up success on several fronts since the release of the full version of Baldur’s Gate 3. First and foremost, the game is enjoying strong interest on Steam, where it is regularly played by more than half a million players at any one time.
The popularity of this RPG has also been noticed by players on PlayStation, where pre-orders have risen significantly over the last while. The fact that this is an extraordinary title, and one that certainly doesn’t come out every day, is evidenced by the reviews that started appearing after the full version was released.
A look at the reviews published so far on Metacritic reveals that this is the highest rated title of the year. The average rating currently stands at 97%, which puts the third Baldur’s Gate title ahead of the first so far, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from Nintendo, which reached 96%. Although the final number for Baldur’s Gate may yet change with more reviews, it’s becoming clear that this will be one of the most notable and highest-rated games of the year. We’ll see how studio Larian handles the upcoming PlayStation 5 port, which launches on September 6.
