Hollywood star Orlando Bloom lived in Prague for several years. During the filming of Amazon’s recently concluded series Carnival Row, the actor apparently became a big fan of Czech beer. Bloom has now become the new brand ambassador for Prague brewery Staropramen, an announcement made by parent company Molson Coors.

Bloom, who is also a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, will star in a new TV ad and social media campaign for Staropramen, which is due to launch in Europe later this year. He will also be seen in director Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming Gran Turismo and in A24’s Wizards alongside Pete Davidson.

“I am delighted to represent such a quality product as Staropramen,” the actor said via a press release. “I think it’s important to work with brands that practice what they preach. The Staropramen team talks a lot about quality and expertise, and when it comes down to it, it’s great tasting beer brewed by incredibly talented people. I fell in love with Prague when I lived and worked there for several years. It’s a beautiful city full of amazing people,” Bloom adds.

Staropramen has announced that Bloom has become its new ambassador, in conjunction with the brand’s global expansion into markets in Europe, Asia and other countries. While Staropramen doesn’t have the brand power of national beverage Pilsner Urquell in the Czech Republic, it is sold as a premium beer in most foreign markets. Earlier this year, the company also launched its zero alcohol Staropramen 0.0 beer in the UK, Ireland and other European markets. Parent company Molson Coors is seeking further market penetration for the Czech brand, of which Bloom is an ambassador. In the new ad, Bloom reportedly appears in Prague’s most famous locations before discovering the secrets of Staropramen at the brewery itself in Smíchov.

Bloom moved to Prague in 2017 during the lengthy filming of Carnival Row, one of the most expensive productions ever shot in the Czech Republic. The actor lived in the city for most of the following five years, when filming for two seasons of the show was rescheduled and delayed due to the pandemic.
